Jon Clark/Assistant Football Coach for Defensive Backs | Northwestern Oklahoma State University

Northwestern Oklahoma State Football and Head Coach Ronnie Jones announced the hiring of Jon Clark as the Assistant Football Coach for Defensive Backs. 

 Clark brings 10 years of coaching experience to the Ranger staff. His most recent season was with the University of Texas Permian Basin as the secondary coach / pass game coordinator from July 2022 to December 2022. While with Texas Permian Basin he recruited all positions from the Texas area.  "I am extremely happy to add Jon Clark to our football coaching staff.  The Rangers are very fortunate to acquire such an experienced and successful coach.  Coach Clark will coach our defensive backs, along with assisting our special teams units.  Another attribute of Coach Clark, is his ability to recruit student athletes.  He is a tireless and relentless recruiter that will definitely make an immediate impact on the Rangers football program. stated head coach Ronnie Jones"

 Prior to his time at UTPB Clark worked at Missouri Southern State and Independence Community College as a Cornerbacks coach along with a running back coach. Clark was with the University of Central Oklahoma as the Linebackers coach, and NFL Liaison until December 2021.  

 His first stint at Missouri Southern State Clark led a defense in the top 5 in the conference in interceptions as the secondary coach. In addition to being #7 in passing defense and #6 in passes defended all major improvements from the season before.   

"First and foremost I am extremely honored to work under the direction of Coach Ronnie Jones as a new member of the Northwestern Oklahoma State University football program. My coaching journey has taking me to stints at every level of the college system" said coach Jon Clark. "Through those opportunities I've had the privilege to work under many great coaches, to which I am fortunate to have coached players who have gone on to play at a professional level."

 In 2018 Clark went to Garden City Community College as he helped lead the team mto a NJCAA National runner-up finish after a 10-1 overall record in a season Garden City was the 2018 Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Champions.  

 Clark saw time at Division I at the University of Nebraska as the Defensive Graduate Manager helping the team to a Foster Farm Bowl appearance beating UCLA and a Music City Bowl appearance in 2016.  "I'm thrilled to bring another degree of expertise on the defensive side of the ball, while coaching the Defensive Backs. While here at NWOSU I look forward to aiding in the development of young men ,at a championship level. I'm excited to be here and even more eager to get to work! Let's Ride! #RRR" stated coach Jon Clark.

 Before Clark was at Nebraska he coached at East Texas Baptist as the safeties coach along with a student assistant at Arizona State.  

 Clark graduated with his bachelor's degree in Sociology / Family Studies from Arizona State University after playing as a defensive back from 2007-2011. While with Arizona State he helped lead a defense to #3 i n total defense in the Pac 12, a 2007 PAC 10 Championship finished 16 nationally, and a 2007 Holiday Bowl appearance against Texas.
