Adi Reese homered three times and brought in seven runners to power Oklahoma Baptist to a two-game sweep of Southwest Baptist (6-18, 0-0 GLVC) on Tuesday evening. Continuing its 10-game road tour, OBU defeated the Bearcats 6-2 in game one before taking the finale 9-2 to improve their season record against non-conference opponents to 15-2.

Reese became the second Bison in the program's Division II era to record three home runs over a two-game span since Cheyenne Demaree accomplished the feat in 2018. Furthermore, she is the first OBU player to knock two home runs in a single game since Samantha Campos and Jocee Sparks did it a season ago.

GAME ONE

Stifling defense from both squads left the scoreboard untouched after the first two innings. That changed in the third frame as Adi Reese popped the game's seal with a two-out, three-run shot to put OBU up 3-0.

The scoring runs, Emily Adler and Kennedy Clark, reached on a fielder's choice and a walk, respectively.

The next two innings, Oklahoma Baptist allowed one hit behind near-flawless work in the pitching lane from Aspen Younce.

OBU's confidence boost produced two runs in the sixth frame, courtesy of a Sammie Greene single that scored Sydney Adler and an E. Adler shot into left field that brought in Zoey Johnson.

Again, Younce made quick work of the Bearcats, striking out two of the five batters she faced in the inning. Then a Gwyn Miller solo home run in the seventh sealed the victory and extended the lead to 6-0.

Southwest Baptist put up two runs in the bottom of the frame, but the OBU lead was untouchable as Younce forced a pop-up for the final out of the contest.

Younce raised her season record to 4-1 with the win, tossing a complete game with nine strikeouts. She gave up seven hits and surrendered two runs.

GAME TWO

The finale started the same as the first game, with both teams scoreless after two frames. Again, OBU was the first to tally a run as Reese went yard over center field in the third for a 1-0 advantage.

Southwest Baptist responded with two scores in the bottom of the inning before OBU reclaimed the lead with two runs in the fourth, courtesy of a Miller two-run homer.

A laser show commenced in the fifth as OBU put six more on the board. Three runs came from Reese, who pelted a ball to plate three, while Hailey Stanford and Mia Moddelmog were responsible for the others.

Pitcher Olivia Cummings, who entered the circle in the bottom of the fourth, didn't allow a hit or run the rest of the way as the Bison charged to victory.

Cummings was credited with her first win this season after 3.1 innings of work and three strikeouts. OBU's starter, Jaycee Shaffer, tossed 3.2 innings, struck out five, and gave up two earned runs.

Reese led all batters with four RBIs on two hits and three scored runs. Additionally, Miller and Stanford brought in two Bison apiece.
